Overthinking
Overthinking is the most dangerous drug of all. It is addictive. What makes it so perilous is it stays in our head and eats us inside out and most of us even think that is absolutely normal. Overthinking a person, a situation or even an imaginary scenario is good enough to haunt us for a lifetime.
Unlike other drugs it stays inside our brains, entices us with momentary affirmations and pleasures but we end up being it’s slave. It is the root cause for half of our problems like anxiety and sleeplessness.
I understand, sometimes overthinking is a form of our defense mechanism. But we need to keep a watch on our thoughts.
Dwelling upon the things we have no control gives us absolutely nothing, but it is not as simple to understand it as it is to read. No matter how much we tell ourselves, we end up overthinking things. We all did it at some point of our lives and most of us do this everyday.
I did the same. I used to think of a lot scenarios and overthink lot of things, it gave me big enough scars for a life time. Reality is much different, sometimes it disappoints us and believe me most of the times it baffles us with surprises. You never know how much the guy you met at your office likes you or how your one word of encouragement impacted a person’s life.
And yeah Forrest is right, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get.
I sometimes wonder, what exactly in our life is good enough to overthink? Our job, family, friends and even your hair is not permanent and here you are overthinking your ex (facepalm).
There is a thin line of thread between overthinking and thinking straight. A small dose of anxiety is enough to trigger us. We have to learn to keep a watch on us. We need to take care of ourselves.
I begin my journey today, will give every cell of my body to not overthink things. I will try to keep it simple and learn to take it easy. No matter what you aspire in your life, it is worthless if you are not happy and at peace. Remember, everything you aspire is only because you believe that will give you happiness and for a fun fact - you can find happiness in little of the things like a chocolate box.
Are you ready to open your chocolate box?
Hakuna matata.
Very well thought and written
